    I thought this was obvious.

I always thought the similarity in the music and overlap in fans was obvious as well, but only on two or three occasions have I seen anything written about it.

The article you linked is pretty crappy though. It only makes superficial comparisons. The obvious similarity between metal and classical is their symphonic structures, which I don't see mentioned here at all.

Yeah, I made the point about structure in my original comment.

I like both types of music. In fact I've asked my freinds if i look or act like the stereotyped idea of what people think metalheads are, and they say no every time. Music is music for me. I don't take offense to whether you prefer country or rap. You like what you like and I like what I like. No need to argue on that matter. (though I am picky, and I won't be afraid to tell you whether I simply don't like something if you ask.)

I'm afraid it's not that simple. The factory produced crap pop today isn't a true preference. It's more like a terrible drug that is being forced down the American public's throats. :S

This sums up modern, corporate-produced music:

    @Steerpike:

Well I like both.....though I'm not sure if I like modern pop.

I like this in terms of new.

I don't think I've been forced to like any of this and if I have? Eh I still like it XD think its awesome music

Those are some of my fav news songs.

Give a listen to them, I can't promise you'll like them but I do XD

    BUT

despite my love for some new music and how awesome I think it is. I can make a case for old books vs new books and old movies vs new movies. I can find equal value in almost any generation or type of thing like I've said before in other threads.

But I can't deny I prefer classic music by quite a lanslide. There is a lot of modern stuff I like and even love but my connection to classic music is much stronger, also there is just a lot more of that's just so damn slick.

I mean all the videos I posted are different styles of music but the classics with music are so much better to jam to and make ya feel like a champion. Like if I saw a beautiful woman and fell in love/lust on sight (Boooo YAH!) or was planning to ride into battle or got an awesome car, I'd play older music.

I mean there are new songs that do touch me and even make me feel things but the older stuff can do it with just about any song I listen to from back then.

    Such a cool vibe.

    Plus

MY GAWD THOSE RIFFS, THOSE RIFFS

Like I said I love both but with music classic is my core man.

This may have something to do with the fact, the first song I ever remember listening to was a classic. I was really little and my uncle was driving me home from daycare and I remember being so perplexed by what he had on the radio

    Still remains a fav

In fact its cold as hell

    Just so awesome

We need lightning and heavy metal thunder back someday!!!
