My Sci-Fi contest entry which was a prequel to my actual novel included climate disaster on Earth. https://www.writingforums.org/threads/centauri-rising.129511/ I thought about modifying it for the Cli-Fi short story contest but decided I had such a slim chance of winning that I couldn't spare the time at the moment. And the story is more about escaping Earth than the climate disaster they are fleeing from. The Water Knife was another cli-fi book by Paolo Bacigalupi. It had a simpler plot than The Windup Girl, more recent future without all the genetic modification. The world lacks enough water, and the rich have it, the poor don't. And the poor are taken advantage of by powerful gang leaders. It's depressing but has an interesting ending.
Yes, I began reading The Water Knife a while back... was too busy to keep going but it was interesting. He packs so much into such little space... I want to read it real, real bad. And will... eventually. Possibly your story tomorrow. Thank you!
Ther are quite a lot of subgenre of sci-fi some can be quite vague. To me, cli-fi sounds like a more specific interaction and less extreme of post-apocalyptic fiction.
Wow .. I just found out that I'm writing Cli-fi not Sci-fi. I suppose this means I need to take the the robots out.
