Does anyone write comics? I love writing and enjoy drawing. I'd describe myself as average at drawing (even less for writing ) but I fancy maybe trying a comic for a bit of enjoyment and something different. Anyone else do this? Any tips on how you go about it i.e. story first then important pictures to go with or draw scenes then words to go with...
That's the thing, I've never done a comic before so I'm not sure. My writing is normally dystopian. I'd quite fancy doing something dark or supernatural for a comic though. What genre are you into? Do you write and draw? Do you do any series or stand alone? What's your process?
High Fantasy is my game. I'm pencilling the third act of part 3 of my trilogy, going at a slow ass pace because of college right now, but when I'm done in June I will be finished that, then comes the re-drawing. Going back and probably redoing most of part 2 which is seriously lagging. Then I gotta upload them all onto computer with HD photography, which has better resolution than a scanner, then see what I can do with GIMP or Photoshop. I'm under no illusions: that will be an obscene amount of work to do. As for my process, you have to script it all first, then I made a character bible with 200 or so character designs, then underdraw the scenes you want with faint lines, then go over it properly. I say high fantasy. but I wanted to move away from long travel scenes, maps, paragraphs of worldbuilding and other genre conventions. Instead a fast, action packed, thriller. For example the third one, all 300 pages of it, only takes place in the span of 14 hours or so if you discount the epilogue.
Good luck, that is a lot of work. What are your drawing skills like? Do you have a preference over the designing ot writing side? I'd love to see an example of your work at some point
