    Coming of age?

Discussion in 'Query & Cover Letter Critique' started by John Franklin Dandridge, Sep 2, 2015.

I've read somewhere that describing a story as 'coming of age' in a query is frowned upon. Thoughts?

I think it depends on the genre. If you are writing a novel for the adult market that is coming of age, it may be worth noting. However, if you are writing for Young Adult or under, nine times out of ten its assumed that it will be a coming of age tale, based simply on the age of the protagonist.

Thanks for the input. I've decided to just ditch it though.
