Commonly Confused Homonyms

    People around here are terrible with pronouncing things properly. They say axe instead of ask, and rather than saying "I saw that movie," they say "I seen that movie." It doesn't get more annoying than that... Except when people come into my store and call it Shermin Williams rather than Sherwin Williams. (Maybe I'm just a bit too language OCD for Kansas. lol)

    Not a true homonym, but annoying anyway:

    advice: noun, suggestions and recommendations
    advise: verb, to counsel or give advice

    one that an editor at work explained:

    Further: abstract concept of progress - They are further along with the report than we thought.
    Farther: concrete concept of distance - we are farther from home than I would like after 10 hours of driving.
