    Looking for a word

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by doggiedude, May 18, 2016.

What would be the title of a person who had the job of announcing party guests to a formal government social event?
Not really a butler in this situation. I found a reference to a "Seargent at Arms" having the job of announcing the President to the Senate but I'm not sure that would work either.

I poked around and came up with herald, lord chamberlain, lord steward, master of ceremonies, court marshal, and just announcer.
