Stories that were picked out were definitely exceptional, so kudos to the finalists! Let's pray and hope that the best human being (with exceptions...) wins. For the ones who didn't make it, including me, there's always next time. Then again, failure is a stepping stone to success.

I haven't read all of them, but whatever part of the story I've read from these ones was interesting, so I cannot comment whether they all were the same or not.

They aren't all the same. And I think it's a bit unfair to say they are. A lot of people put a lot of effort into these.

All the stories were fantastic, I'm a bit upset with myself that I didn't write one in time.

I also wish that Rock of Offense had made it into the finals, as I really liked it a lot.

    Congratulations everyone. :)

    Best of Luck

Thanks for thinking my story was ok enough to make the voting.

I am just thrilled that I finished it, and it was complete enough for the vote. Best of luck to everyone, I think I have learned something just by reading all of the other stories.

This has been a great shot to my writing esteem.

    Good luck to everyone.

I've gone back through the finalist entries, and am quite impressed. And, in all honest, I am apprehensive. The competition here is very strong. Everyone who entered has done a fine job.

Obviously, 9 of us will walk away disappointed at the end. However, no one should feel discouraged over not coming in first. If nothing else, each person who entered has stretched his or her writing skills, and is therefore a winner. I'm not limiting that statement to the ten finalists either, but would say it to all 23 entrants.

But as they repeatedly say in the Highlander sagas:
"In the end, there can be only one."

Good luck to all, and hold your heads high.

I agree with you, Cog. All of the stories are amazing. How Daniel narrowed it down to only ten, I'm not sure.

That's some good writing there on that list. You ten are very deserving, and I'm sure it was tough to be Lp. Nicely done, all.

Congratulations everyone on your amazing stories! And congratulations Lp Spider for being able to narrow it down to only ten. I wouldn't have been able to do it, because each of these stories reflects a skill and style unique to the author.

    Good luck everyone!

Who says you did anything wrong? It's early days yet, the contest doesn't close til Saturday. It's still entirely possible for you to win.

A friend asked me to join this site and read his story and vote for him, so I did. But after reading the others, I realized that his isn't the best and now I'm voting for someone else.

    I'm a terrible friend. haha.

Oh well. These stories are incredibly powerful.

    Few votes...

I am right there with you grey...

The way that I am looking at this is, trying to see the positives...

    You finished a story.

It was good enough to make it into the top ten.

Hopefully others will comment on it at some point and give you some tips on what you can improve.

Hopefully you read the other stories, and picked up a few things, maybe a new way to set off a quotation, or a new way to describe something...

Just the fact that you are where you are is a great achievement, a great accomplishment, and a block to build on.

This was not an easy topic for me to write about. The stories are so diverse that maybe one story struck a different stronger chord with a reader, that any other story did. They are all so good that I think the subject matter will have as much of an influence on the readers as the spelling, grammer, plot, etc.

I guarantee you that this experience will give you the incentive to write an even better story next time. Or at least it will for me.

And grey, if you want after this, send me a PM and I will try to help you with the story if you would like, not that I am any expert, or that I would be any better of a reviewer that you are.
