Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by skeloboy_97, Aug 20, 2011.

    Hi.

If you are a published author, would you mind taking a look at this.

Im currently working on a manuscript and i think it may go big. What are some tips on getting started in the publishing business.

    Much appreciated!

    Skeloboy,

There wasn't anything to look at.

Beyond that, there is a place on the forum to post writing samples for input.

3 Tips I think are important:

Complete the project and polish it, making it the absolute best you can before sending a manuscript out. You only get one chance with a particular market/agent with each project.

Study and know the business. Know what publishers expect when submitting and give it to them. Know a bit about contracts even if/when you aquire an agent to represent your work.

Always be professional, online, in person, in all your dealings.

In any case, good luck as you move forward.

    Terry

I think you misunderstood me, what I meant by 'please have a look at this,' was aimed at the direct post, not a piece of writing, not to worry though.

And thanks for the tips. I will be sure to remember them!

Instead of asking for tips in such a general, vague way, how about perusing the threads in this subforum?
