Magic: Her killer sent her soul to another plain/dimension and her lover/friend/another character needs to go to that realm, face challenges, and return home with her safely.

Technology: Her body was rushed to a tech-supreme facility where they found a sliver of brain activity and brought her back to life... as a cyborg. (Classic, ik)

Modern: Your shit outta luck. shes dead. Gone. Unless u wanna bring in aliens or magic...
