Debut author turned down $120,000, 3 books New York deal to self-publish

    Huh?? You who quoted my thought that "If you can show me established authors leaving (big) publishing houses in favour of self publishing, I would think differently about it." at least a couple of times to disparage it in a condescending and derisive manner? More that a bit myopic if you ask me.

    I haven't decided which route I'm going to take (I'm still writing my first draft, so publishing is quite a ways away). But, my thought is if you are selling your book to people, it doesn't really matter if you go the traditional route or self publishing. Your book still has to be good enough for people to want to read. So, an author who sells has tapped into something.

    Now, if you bought a million copies of your book, handed them out to a million people, and then bragged that you sold a million copies - that wouldn't be something to brag about.
