    Discussing "Rise of the Demons"

Discussion in 'Role Play Discussion' started by Texan Gandhi, Aug 19, 2012.

This is for OOC (Out of Character) discussions for and about the Rise of the Demons thread.

Post your character templates here, and talk about the thread. Ask questions and help clarify details about characters and rivals here.

No question to help clarify details is stupid. It can be a bit complex with having named NPC rivals for each character.

Have fun, and no raging or flaming. Its just a game.

    Gimar, the Goblin Thief.

    Character Template:

    Name: Gimar, the Goblin Shaman

    Age: 9062 years old.

    Gender: Male

Appearance: Standing all of 4 feet tall, Gimar is a scraggly, wrinkled Goblin. Surprisingly fit and nimble, but fairly fickle. Wears black leather armor, and often a black cloak.

Personality: Sneaky, greedy, somewhat cowardly, and slightly silly, Gimar embodies fairly stereotypical Goblin traits. Regardless of his ancient age, he likes to act as though he is still a young goblin, a rebellious rogue on the streets.

History: Gimar was originally a thug and a thief, being huge for the Goblins in his Demon city, who normally stand 2 feet tall, he is a giant. He originally worked his body hard, and became fit, while most of his race was skinny or fat. His claim to fame was actually killing a (notably dim and stupid) orc, in a one on one fight. This all changed when the city was utterly annihilated by a host of Wizards of the Goddess of Justice. As the wizards picked through the carnage he inflicted, one found Gimar. Noticing his remarkable aptitude for magic, which was close to none but having any at all was noticible for a Goblin, the Wizard decided to keep him alive.

The Wizard, named Tiber, enslaved Gimar, and used him as an all around test dummy for thousands and thousands of years. Using life-extending spells, Tiber used Gimar to fine tune his own spells, spells of poisoning, killing, maiming, and that sort, as well as useful spells, like life-extending, memory enhancing, and muscle tuning. The offensive spells were to be used on other goblins, to good helpful spells were to be used on Tiber. Resurrecting him every time Tiber killed Gimar, Tiber slowly gave Gimar more and more magical ability and larger magic pool through it being used on him. The bonds of his enslavement slowly withered, and Gimar escaped. Fleeing the human's domain, he found that he remembered all of the spells Tiber used on him. Making him a Jack-Of-All trades, but no specialist in any, Gimar found that he was very adaptable.

That was when Phil, the God of Chaos and Evil, summoned him.

Powers/Equiptment: A Jack-Of-All trades in magic, Gimar is very adaptable, but is not strong in any field, just normal. His magical pool however, is still small for a human or elf wizard, as he is only a Goblin. He is agile and a quick thinker, but in open combat he is at a horrible disadvantage. Gimar is fairly fragile, and cannot take any extended punishment. He protects himself with thick, but very mobile leather armor in an attempt to counter this, but this does very little. Thus Gimar refrains from open battle, and acts as a thief, but with magical powers.

    Rival (Brief, paragraph-form character template):

Tiber is Gimar's rival, the powerful Human wizard that enslaved Gimar for thousands of years. Tiber is about 20,000 years old, but failed attempts to make himself immortal has crippled his god-like powers. Now, he is just a normal, though powerful, Wizard. Tiber is stuck up and pompous, wealthy and used to finery and exaltation, though he is now bitter and has absorbed himself in the quest to recapture his escaped test dummy. Afraid of being the laughingstock (even more so) of the other ancient wizards, Tiber is hoping to make this a short quest.

    Phil, the God of Chaos.

OK, I have started off this thread. If anyone has suggestions for anything, Phil's quests or the story or just plain writing suggestions, don't be afraid to post them.

Never GM'd before or started a thread, never the less I hope this one will go well.

    Tiberious Fletch, the Sacrificed Summoner

    Name: Tiberious Fletch

    Age: 54

    Gender: XY

Appearance: With such powerful magic, Tiberious ages at a much more rapid rate than most. He has the looks of someone who should be 6 feet under. A skinny build, not much for hand to hand combat. Grey scraggly hair that sometimes spikes in strange directions, gelled by sweat. Wrinkled face, frown lines, crow's feet, etc. Dark blue eyes, almost void-like. Crinkled nose, reaching over his almost always frowning mouth. Always wears a blackened maroon robe, striped with black on the sides. Blacks slippers.

Personality: The kind of guy that you pity, yet fear. His humor is not understood by anyone, for it is always dark and at times where a joke goes unappreciated. Although, his humor isn't often, he is usually a very serious, powerful summoner. Nothing gets in the way of his studies, in his mind, companionship is bronze, studying is silver, and power is gold.

History: Tiberious was a nice friend to have back in elementary school. Nobody teased him, he had one good friend, but many other friends. His knowledge was not easily combated, except for his good friend. They were friends because they were both top of the class, they found that they had a lot in common. His friend's name was Eldridge Brookes, they were always adventuring. Sometimes they even broke curfew to do so, up through middle school. One day, they found a strange cave. What were they going to do? Turn around there? Of course not! Now, Eldridge was a good-goody while Tiberious had a rebellious side. So, when they found the rough gang of cultists in that cave, guess who stayed with them. Studied with them. Tiberious left Eldridge for the cultists' sorcery, they fought a lot about Tiberious' choice. Tiberious stayed with the cultists though, he met up with them every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. They taught him many things, but he had to start making sacrifices if he were to become one of them. Sacrifices like Eldridge. As soon as Tiberious told Eldridge that they couldn't hang out anymore, Eldridge decided to tell his father about the cultists. Eldridge's father was a well respected priest, he did not stand for this. The cultists were put under arrest for their practices. That didn't stop Tiberious, in fact it made him grow hatred toward Eldridge. Hatred to the whole priestly order. Tiberious kept studying what he scrounged up from the cave. These supplies taught him everything he needed to know about Phil the God of Chaos. This is where he began his journey. Tiberious left his home town, not before tying up a few loose ends of course. On his way out, Tiberious summoned a very weak geist inside of the church. The geist ransacked the whole place, which was Tiberious' goal, but then things went sour when the priest, Eldridge's dad, showed up. The geist's face flared in hatred, it attacked the priest before he could even think. The priest had been killed, Tiberious had run, Eldridge knew. Ever since that fateful day, Tiberious and Eldridge have been sworn enemies. The mention of the other's name will drive them into their rage.

Powers/Equipment: Tiberious is a rather advanced summoner, capable of summoning geists, summoning lesser demons, re-animation, a little bit of darkness (dark bolts, shadow manipulation, etc.), enchantments, mental torture. As for equipment, Tiberious only keeps a small knife just in case a spell needs it, or the tables turn that way.

Rival (Brief, paragraph-form character template): Eldridge the Crusader

    Age: 54

    Gender: XY

Appearance: Light brown hair, smoothed back over an under-aged face. Eldridge's nose is rounded downwards, over his confident smile. His eyes are a light shade of green. Usually, Eldridge is in white plate armor, always etched with holy symbols. Muscular build.

Powers/Equipment: Eldridge is capable of: lesser healing, some exorcism powers, light powers (lighting up dark areas, blinding, etc.). Eldridge always carries his altar-enchanted sword, Grayson, named after his father. It is enchanted to keep the bearer strong, young, and give him/her long life. It is one-handed, but is usually wielded with two hands for good measure.

Snowman....did you mean to name your character after my rival, Gimar's rival, Tiber?

Oh, and I updated Gimar's personality. He is a sneaky, cowardly, and silly thief. Old and mean and dangerous seems to be what you lot are doing...might as well break away.

Half-demon twin sisters, Gore and Rue.

    Name: Gore

Age: Ageless (Appears to be in mid-teens)

    Gender: Female

Appearance: Gore is a half-demon with light blue skin, waist length dark blue hair and two tiny white horns protruding from her dainty forehead. She has big eyes the color of silver that have an intensity about them that could make one wither just by looking into them. She wears a small black dress with a large black hood. Gore is actually quite a beautiful site to behold.

Personality: Gore is very maniacal, vengeful and vindictive. She can have one wrapped around her finger one moment and then have them begging for death to be free from her torturous ways.

History: As punishment, Gore (along with her sister, Rue) was cast out from their angelic home up in the heavens with the Gods after Gore was found to have been in secret collaboration with Phil the entire time he reigned his chaos. Now and forever they are forced to live among the Earthlings and suffer the bitters of Earth instead of enjoying their paradise that Gore ruined by her deeds. For the rest of eternity, Gore and Rue are locked in an endless rivalry. Rue holds so much hatred for Gore because Rue had never done anything against the Gods, she received her punishment with Gore because she was deemed guilty by association.

Powers/Equipment: Gore's strongest demonic ability is Telekinesis and Mind Infiltration (the ability to put thoughts into other peoples' minds. Most effective on non-magical humans). She carries no other weapon.

    Rival (Brief, paragraph-form character template):

Rue, Gore's twin sister, appears much like Gore but has a darker shade of blue skin and lighter blue hair. (Pretty much inverted colors). With Rue never being in Phil's league, she is doomed to walk the Earth for no reason other than Gore's selfish decisions. The Gods promised Rue that she will be allowed back to their home, their paradise, the day that she kills her sister. Rue is the exact opposite of Gore in every manner as far as her personality goes. Rue's strongest ability is that of teleportation and invisibility.

    Character Template

    Name: Krainki

    Age: 23 millennia

    Gender: Male

    Species: Troll

Appearance: Krainki is short, and uncharacteristically thin, for a troll. His skin is fair and clear, and his brow has a series of permanent furrows. His thick brown eyebrows and long eyelashes frame his fierce, green eyes. His hair is kept short, and he has a long, thick beard of brown, blonde, and grey hairs that extends down to his belly. He wear clothes of natural fibers, uncolored, with a fine, high-quality natural fiber forest green cloak.

Personality: Krainki is talkative and eager to share his wisdom. He is a congenial trollman who is helpful, intelligent, and has an immeasurable passion for bridge-building. From time to time, he will hold special classes for the young trolls on advanced bridge-building techniques, including theoretical geometry courses.

History: He is the ancient and wise leader of small egalitarian tribe of foragers. The tribe, known only to themselves as the "Antediluvians", were once refugees of a terrible and powerful leader. After their escape, they watched the epochs pass, civilizations rise and fall, and tyrannical autocrats and gods rule maniacally over the subjugated. While an epoch of peace has fallen over the land, the Antediluvians have remained hidden deep in their mysterious and enchanted forest home known as the Blackroot Falls. Rejecting the inevitable diseases of civilization, these trollmen and women live their lives quietly amidst the ferns and streams. They spend their days developing geometrical theorems of stunning mathematical complexity, using them to build more stable and reliable bridge-homes out of unique materials and sustainable resources.

Powers: Krainki can command flora, and manipulate water. He is shamanistic; his thousands of years living deep within a forest possessed of ancient magic has imbued him with an array of powers, from using water as a high powered, near ballistic weapon, to felling trees on enemies, only to right them in the ground again. He carries with him a small knit satchel, and in it, among several types of medicines and hallucinogens, he keeps a small, perfectly round ball of heartwood from his tree-home, which enables him to recharge his powers more rapidly.

Equipment: The Sword of Leaves is Krainki's only melee weapon. It is an ancient weapon of the Blackroot Falls, given to him by the Warden of the Wood (The keeper of the Falls) when he and his people first arrived as refugees. It is in the style of a longsword, though significantly smaller, so he can wield it effectively. It is still, however, ¾ the length of his own body. Its handle is made of a solid piece of gnarled wood, with thick branches forming a large hand guard at the tang.

Rival: Nearly 23 millenia ago, Krainki's people were ruled by a despotic, oppressive leader. According to trollish mythology, when a troll is murdered, its soul inhabits the body of its murderer, eventually driving them insane and bringing them to commit suicide. This traditional mythology has almost entirely prevented murder from occurring in troll societies.

However, one day, Krainki and his people rose up against the tyrant, Stihmi, and Krainki's dagger would deal to him the fatal blow. Krainki freed his people on that day, and they began to wander, a diaspora, looking for a hidden and fertile land to call their home. They found it under the ancient canopies of the Blackroot Falls.

Today, many thousands of generations have passed. The Falls granted Krainki strange and wonderful powers, among them, an indefinite lifespan. While the average troll lives well into the 200s, Krainki has governed his people for 23,000 years. Every troll in Antediluvia has forgotten the murder that he committed; everyone except Krainki.

Stihmi's corrupted soul entered Krainki's body on that fateful day, and it would lay dormant, unbeknownst to him, until the day that the God of Chaos called for all evil entities to rise and serve him...

Sea wolf...if Krainki's rival is the evil one and Krainki is peaceful and a nature-lover...doesn't that mean that he is the good guy?

Anyhow, all you guys who have posted character templates should get to writing. Erik, you can have Gimar tag along with you, you don't need me to write in stuff with him for a while. Gimar doesn't matter much in fights anyway.

Yes, he is, but in order to use Stihmi as my main character, I have to go through Krainki, the "good guy". It will be a schizophrenic battle until Stihmi can either escape Krainki's body and possess something else, or he can force Krainki from his own body. Either way, I have to explore Krainki first, in order to get to my character.

Demonic wings of black aid him as he takes to the air with his pray, monstrous claws for hands used for ripping apart his enemies, as well as a fierce sword attached to his hip. He looks as though a vampire, werewolf, and a fallen angel had merged, and became one.

Personality: Cold and Heartless, he feels nothing for any living creature, and will NOT hesitate to take a life

History: Zaris was once a mortal man who had a beautiful wife and children until a plague came that threatened to take everyone away from him, he made a deal with the God of Chaos to save his family and the God heard his plee and took his soul and transformed him into a monster to do his bidding and as a condition he had to feast on mortals, once his monstrous transformation was completed Zaris killed his family and feasted on their bodies, and destroyed the one thing he was trying to save.

Powers/Equiptment: Zaris has superhuman strength, speed, and expert swordsmanship, must feast on the living regularly to survive, he has the power to charge energy into the palm of his hands and fire it at an enemy when an enemy is struck with it they become frozen for a short amount of time, which then he will use his venomously sharp sword to slice through them

@Erik, I'm not sure what deleted post you were referring too, but I had to delete your comment about it in the game thread (tried to move your to post here but couldn't). If there is something weird going on with posts going missing let me know and I'll look into it.
