    show the honors

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by andersonkyle, Oct 7, 2008.

okay this one is done on most forums so i dnt see why it shudnt be here too. since for the contests there are no rewards why not add a little bar below the members avatrs where their honor points will be shown whch they have gained by winning a contest or by giving an excellen review or pice of wriitng. it makes the members feel appreciated and shows the world his abilities

Actually, thats what the reputation pips are - the little green (hopefully green!) blips under your post count.

For every 100 reputation points you gain, you get another pip. The rep points are not dished out as freely here as in some forums, but if you see a post that is particularly helpful, you are encouraged to use the Add to Reputation icon (scales) to let the person know. Don't forget to identify yourself in the comment - not required, but generally appreciated!

Question; does winning a contest add rep to yours automatically?
Or is distributed by members who give you rep?

rep only comes from other members.

The contests are really just for fun, and the lack of any tangible "prize" other than the recognition of your fellow members makes it even more pathetic that cheating does take place to some degree. :(

Thats what I initially thought- they're just fun, but I must have misunderstood your post. I thought you were saying that contests earned you rep. Thanks for clarifying

I'd like to add that I see the purpose of the contests as twofold. Firstly, for fun as you say, and secondly, and more importantly, to encourage members to write. The themes are fairly varied and we host both a poetry and short stroy contest regularly thus supplying variant medium. I think attractive topics encourage writing as a whole, which should prove fun.

Very true. I should have said that the competitive element of the contests is just for fun.

Huh, I never noticed the 'add to rep' button until now. It really should be a bit more obvious methinks...

Edit: Is there a way to view the specific rep score of other members?

Will a point ever come where you resist the urge to flaunt your moderatorship over me?

"Flaunt my modship"? What now? I gave an honest answer to the question you asked...

I'm only kidding. My insatiable lust for power usually becomes a running joke on most forums
