Considered a PDA as a writing tool?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Wreybies, Jun 16, 2008.

Does anyone use a PDA, or PDA phone as a portable writing device? I am considering the purchase of a new phone (done with my current contract and I am going with another company) and I was looking into a phone with Windows Mobile 6.0. (Samsung Blackjack II)

I’m just wondering of anyone else has gone this route with the intent to use said device as a modern notebook to write when on-the-go.

If so, did you really use it? Did it serve the purpose? Which device did you use?

My phone has a full, slide-out qwerty keyboard, and i use it for jotting down notes and ideas if i'm out and about. It works really well :D

A friend of mine had a PDA and he used it to write with as he didn't have much time due to being a chef. He found it served it's purpose really well. I am considering getting one myself actually. Easier to cart around with me when I am out and about and need to write.

I use my phonee (verizon enV) to write when i don't have any paper. I type it as a text and send it then cancel then lock it.

You could if you were a fast texter... I'm slow as hell when it comes to text so typing a full novel would be a grueling undertaking. :p

I don't know about any, but I certainly want to get one in the future.

I had a T-Mobile Sidekick for a while. It was a great little thing to jot down story ideas and email myself, or even start to work on a project. The only downside being that if you can't email it to yourself due to coverage then you need the USB cable and some PDA/phones can be rather pricey.
