The speech wasn't what Deathblade had expected, he got up, picked up his sword and slammed it into the tavern floor looking to the startled group.
"What makes you think that a rag tag group like this will even make it to the portal. What hope do you have that this will even succeed?"
    He waited for his answer.

Lye spat probably the worse elven curse she could at the girl before pausing to her the speech.
    "I'm in," Lye said.
Only to get amusement at your failure, she thought. She stared at the others they looked so weak, and so pathetic. She had no faith in them.

Atrius lifted his glass, even though he'd been denied his 'cheers'.

"As anticlimactic as that speech was, I agree. Who wants to live in a world where bartenders are forced to give us tap water. A world where our leader doesn't drink. Now, my friend, you can't leave a 'cheers' hanging. It's just rude. This may be the last drink of your life." He turned around to 'Im-not-compensating-for-anything'. "And you! It's better to die fighting than to die... well, any other way. Maybe there is no hope for us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try."

A sword clanged against the floor. Senofyn could still hear it ringing in his ears. The man who had thrown it looked up, yelling. Senofyn lowered his sword; who was this man of such little faith? Senofyn’s distorted reflection stared at him through the thrown sword.

Was this really the time for him?

"aye" Furúmil announced barely loud enough to hear over every one else. Her eye's like daggers in the back of lye as she gazed around the room, she could see a sense of superiority on her face and Furúmil dressed in her simple clothes with her simple bow oh how she hated it!

Two of the dozen or so were already in. That was a first step. Lucas hadn't expected that much; he knew that he was a horrible speaker. It was a wonder anyone would listen to him. When one of the men spoke up - a man whose name Luke couldn't recall - Luke had a reply ready. "Rag tag? That's exactly what we need. A group of men and women who can take care of themselves, who are ready for adventure. That's what will keep us going."

Of course, Atrius had to snap something at him as well, but Lucas had to admit that the man had a point. "I said 'cheers', friend. Is that not enough?" It wasn't, and he would have liked to drink, but Annaleigh didn't approve. And he couldn't set a bad example for her.

Anna sat quietly, not saying anything. She was in, of course. Not for the fame or the glory, but because the gods had told her to. She had a purpose to play in this journey. She had to save the world.

Emna was about to respond to the moustached man when their alleged ‘leader’ started talking. All this jappering about danger and not giving in. Father had assured her that the business of the north was the business of the north. Let Lord Farghem deal with it, he had always said. The rare raids that did reach the city were nothing but incidents, at best.

She was about to pick up the conversation with the man but was, again, interrupted, this time by a fancy fellow who appeared to like throwing with sword.

“Succeed where other have failed, is that not the job of heroes, dear sir?” she asked in her sweetest voice. “If you have so little faith, I suggest you go to the kings court. The elder nobles would enjoy hearing yet another poor sod complaining about how there is no hope.” He words seemed to have their intended effect, and with a whirl of red hair she joined to the moustached man.

“We seem to have been interrupted,” she said, still smiling sweetly. “The name is Lady Emna d’Rose. Please, call me Emna.” She offered him her hand in such a way he could either shake or kiss it; she was interested in seeing how the man would react.

Senofyn smiled lightly. He has seen many young women do this before. He was confident enough to kiss it. Why else would she hold it out like that? He took her hand and gently pressed his lips against it. “Welcome, Emna, and what a beautiful hero you are. My name is Senofyn; it is a pleasure.” He let go of her hand slowly.

Agnorth looked at the non-believers, arms crossed. He shook his head, Such little faith. He raised his hand leisurely.

"Rag tag?", Incedia thought to herself with, "The Ignis. Rag tag?"

While he may not have realized it this dark, ominous man with a gargantuan sword may not have realized it he had directly insulted the Ignis line. She wouldn't take this sitting down.

"Rag tag?", she thought to herself with growing fury as she quietly excused herself from the table. Ignoring the reply that Lucas had given to the "Rag tag" comment Incendia walked right up to the man with a sword. And proceeded to send both of them up in a pillar of flame. She was careful not to set either of them on fire though.

"The Ignis are NOT 'Rag Tag'" she replied with a voice that even surprised herself, filled with as much animosity as it was, before dropping her column of fire that was engulfing them. Her show had left scortch marks on the ceiling and floor. She made a mental note to repay the Tavern's owner and returned to her seat.

"As the last heir of the Ignis line I will help your cause, Lucas Willard"

A pillar of flames engulfed a couple of people to the other side of the bar. Atrius, instictively, put the cap back in the tap water bottle. He'd heard of the Ignis lineage, beautiful stones they crafted. He sat back down.

"So, you priests don't drink either?" He asked at the priest who looked like the leader's sibling.

Annaleigh jumped when a pillar of flames engulfed the area only a few feet from her chair, but when the fires died down she relaxed. Again, the man was questioning her about her being a priest. "No, we don't," she said, making it sound rather cold without even meaning to. "I'm sorry if that offends you in any way." Anna couldn't recall the man's name, so she said nothing more.

“Why, nice to meet you, Lord Senofyn.” He would do. Wasn’t to bad on the eye either. Besides, he seemed like the adventurous type. “And what has brought you to the hu…”

"The Ignis are NOT 'Rag Tag'"

Ignis? That name rang a bell or two. She hooked her arm through Senofyn’s and half guided, half dragged him over to Incendia. “Quiet a display, madam. But surely you can not be a member of the Ignis family? Didn’t they all perish?” She kept her tone civil, her magic on guard. Always be cautious around a noble woman. The men, she could influence. Women were harder. Not all of them were attracted to her.

From Furúmil's dark gaze into the back of lye the commotion and arguing in the circle blew into a pillar of flames, in an instance Furúmil was back flipping and rolling across tables and dodging patrons until her back was firmly against a wall, then the flames fell and she made a strong mental note too keep an eye out for the angry mage standing where the flames were

Sythe smiled when the guy across the room, who told him not to stare, chucked his huge sword into the floor. Some people had no patience.
Furtherly amusing was the fact that he had said 'ragtag'. where was this guy from, Xivlan? Could have sworn he was a dwalf.
Sythe sighed and continued watching. So far the speech was lame, the company was hideous, but extremely amusing. But things were heating up, literally and figurativly.
    Good times, good times.

he had expected such replies, but he had to ask anyways. The most impressive by far was the pillar of fire, luckily the darkness protected him. He sighed,
"You are really intent on this then?"
After recieving nods, he picked up his sword and placed it on his back, the sword magically clamping onto the grafted rune underneath his clothing.
"Fine then, if you're so intent on this I will join you, the darkness needs its place within this journey as well you know, but too much evil roams and I simply can't have that."
    He proceeded towards the group,
"by the way, you can call me Deathblade."
He extended his hand to the one called Lucas.

The pretty girl hooked her arm around him and dragged him across the room. She looked up at an Ignis woman. She had an interest in her. Senofyn listen carefully to what she was saying, because anything now would be useful later…

He felt something. The young woman’s hand was cold around his waist. He frowned at her, though concealed it. Who was she?

She felt good after confronting that man with a sword. "But what kind of a name is 'Deathblade'?", she thought to herself. She was then greeted by a finely dressed woman.

“Quiet a display, madam. But surely you can not be a member of the Ignis family? Didn’t they all perish?”

"yes, I am Incendia Ignis, last heir to the Ignis line. And yes they did, all the other members of the Ignis line are dead; except me, Madame Emna d’Rose."

Being from a great nobility Incendia knew and recognized most everyone from nobility. Even the d’Rose family, small as it may be.

Senofyn had written ballads of the Ignis family. Many of his tales were round-about oral stories, but he doubted anyone would know of them here. He hadn’t cared much for the family, but held out a hand welcomingly. Anyone wanting to shut the portal was a friend. “An Ignis? I’ve both read and wrote tales of your family…”

Atrius got up. It was best to be on good terms with the volatile fire mage, especially when one carried as much alcohol as he did. He knew from experience just how bad alcohol burned skin. Not to mention clothes.

"Miss. Ignis, pleased to meet you." He said, while approaching her. "Atrius Rile."

He looked over to the women while shaking Lucas' hand, and noticed she seemed a bit upset, although it was quite obvious from the firework display.
"Apparently I've upset you, just because you're from a long family line, a noble, and the last heir, doesn't make you queen. You have to earn the right to rule, even if you're of royal blood. If you're going to prove something, then this journey would be the place to do it, wouldn't it?."
With that he let go of Lucas' hand and walked over to his original seat, placing his sword at his side.

"I'm in too," Len added happily. Quickly afterwards he bit his tongue, unsure where this sudden flame of confidence had come from. Perhaps it was the pillars of fires another spell caster had summoned. Those flames sparked a thirst in Len's spirit, he wanted to be a better wizard than that, he wanted to be a better wizard than his master. With his book and staff he was more than prepared. Len smiled to himself, pleased with his sudden spur of confidence.

Scythe was still smiling. This deathblade fellow wasn't the sort for making friends. he's upset everybody already. Particularly this ignis girl, last heir of their family line... courtesy of the ye ol' dragons.

The deathblade fellow had sat back in his corner seat, sulking it seems. Smiling every so slyly, scythe turned and looked the bulky man in the eye. Time to stir up some of my own trouble.
'You know, for a certain price, the ignis line could end when ever you wished it to.'

Lye watched as Heiser and Lorel began to walk off, begging for pieces of table scraps. They wouldn't listen to Lye when they were hungry, but Lye wasn't certain they weren't going to find anything and would come back to her soon enough. Lye turned around and decided to look up the people here. See how long they would last. Lye gave the girl who was disrespectful to her a quick glare and then walked around looking at the travelers.

hmmm what a mess Furumil knew here who she could trust, so kneeling down behind a table she whispered ever so softly whilst rummaging her pockets for rations which spilled onto the floor, until the hungry dogs picked up the scent there she sat petting them out of site from that evil lye
