    Excited

Discussion in 'Publishing' started by LordKyleOfEarth, Jul 9, 2009.

I just recieved an email from a publisher, Tales from the Moonlit Path, who has accepted one of my short stories! It will appear in either the Halloween 2009 or the Valentines 2010 issue.

Its my first acceptance, what do I do now? (other than celebrate)

Write another story and start it on making the rounds. You now have one fewer short story in circulation. Send it out, wait for any other stories out there to come back rejected or until they're accepted, then either do an edit to retool it for a different audience or write a new piece and send it out again.

Then enjoy the money you've made (I'm assuming that it's a paying gig, right? You never really know with Moonlit Path from what I've heard, so I've never submitted there.) Try buying some ice cream or buying some nice clothes. Or if you want to play it cool, pay back some of the backlog on your rent. :D

Other than that, congrats and keep it up. Before you know it you'll have another published. Shoot for higher payscales and build up a good track record as a quality writer. Keep up the good work!

Like I said already (after hunting down the initial post... hehe) CONGRATULATIONS Kyle!

It really is wonderful news to hear. I hope we hear of more acceptances in the near future.

What to do now? Work on the next piece of course! No time to slack of Mr, get to work!!! :D After the celebrations of course.

It doesn't mean anything, I just stuck in on the bottom because people who don't read the last letters think I'm a moderator.

    Thanks for the support everyone!

Rock on! I've noticed your posts on the boards with your nice little "acceptions rejections" thing on the sig and always am like "aw, keep at it feller!" ;) hehe. Good on you! But can I make a suggestion? Switch the "acceptions" to red instead of rejections, you want to highlight your success not your failure!

The highlighted rejections are my personal kick to the arse to keep writing/learning/rewriting :)
