HELP me find a name for my character,(please)

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by Brooily, Oct 18, 2011.

I have created a character, his a young man, 24 to be exact. His a college student in New York city and lives alone in a small apartment. he works at a comic book store and dedicates his free time to research astral projection.
Based on this description, what would be a good name.

is a dark story, about the places we dream of and the beings who live there.

This guy has 24 young men. Cool. Call him Duke Nukem.

We cannot create your character name for you. You know the character, you figure out what name fits him.

    More or less this.
I'm sure people would be willing to help decide whether the name you picked is right or not if you thought of the name yourself and gave a description of the character.

Find a random name generator and keep spinning it until you come up with something you like...

    Michael Blessfield.

Maybe just Micheal. I just tacked on Blessfield because it sounded cool for some odd reason.

Well I know lots of times I have a character visualized in my mind but can't think of a good name. Names are important and i think they can be a lot harder than figuring out what your character should look like.

Now it sounds like your character isnt anything out of the ordinary so why not just give him a normal name? : Ryan, Adam, David, Luke, Cameron, James?
But last names are hard too because you can make up the last name but it might sound weird. What I do is I try and look at all my friends last names and then try to make something from that. I feel bad becasue I can't think of anything right now so good luck!

You can use a first name as a family name. Just pick a couple of names from your list -- the 3rd and 5th for example -- and you should end up with a nice neutral name that won't mean anything in particular to anybody...

Asking someone to name your character is like getting another family to name your children, don't you think? Unless English is not your native language and you are not from New York--in which case I can understand. However, I'm not from the US, so I don't really know what names are typical for this type of person, sorry.
