    Hopefully a simple question

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by TenderHeart, May 19, 2008.

I have a short story that is historical fiction. It is just a look the possible outcome of an event should one small change in history be made.

Should I post that in Fiction or Non-Fiction since most of the details are historical?

    Thanks for any advice.

The deliberate deviation of a key fact to explore the ramifications makes it fiction.

Thanks Cogito. That was what I needed to know. I think I am going to review a bit more before I post. I am picking up a lot from the other people. It is far harder than I expected.

That type of story is called "Alternate History" and yeah its fiction all the way. If you want to know some good Alternate History authors just ask, I can tell you some really good books and series that might help you.

Alternate history is a fascinating genre :) There are some really good books dealing with this.

the classic short story in that genre is bradbury's 'a sound of thunder'... ignore the stupid movie that was supposedly based on it, as it's not worth your time and an insult to the original and its author...
