Same thing happened to Death Note. Here I though "oh, interesting. Horror/psychological manga, my cup of tea." then everybody started knowing about it and completely butchered it for me, I hate the mainstream. Naruto is so-so to me, so far so good.
Death Note is still a good anime to me, not my favorite, but a compelling one a very original for having an anti-villain as the main character. I don't really like the live action Death Note though because it doesn't look believable enough.
I don't care that DN is mainstream, I'll still love it. But anything else that's mainstream definitely turns me off. And yeah, the DN live action movie was bad. I lied when I said Snakes on a Plane was the only movie I didn't willingly finish, now that you remind me... haha
It is very original, it is a great manga, the problem I see is that no one actually looks beyond what they're presented. There's a lot of great manga/anime out there that doesn't get attention, and they're stories just as interesting with drawing just as good, some even better depending on your taste.
Yeah and I wish I knew what those anime and manga were but if they're just up and presented to me through mainstream they could turn out like Naruto and Bleach. Good thing alot of the better anime and manga are older than Naruto and Bleach though huh? Remember Cowboy Bebop?
Yeah, I remember it because Initial D came out at about the same time, lol. Really good, I loved the movie.
The movie was awesome. Spike is a badass amongst anime characters that deserve to be called badass. It was sad that he died though, Steven Blum is an awesome voice actor.
These are some manga that I've liked. I've recommended some of these titles to other people and they've liked it, I dunno of you'll like some of these too. I tried to put as many that were finished and not a lot of shoujo (the only shoujo I put there is probably Perfect Girl Evolution, but it's really funny). See if you like anything from there. http://www.onemanga.com/Uzumaki/ http://www.onemanga.com/Bokurano/ http://www.onemanga.com/Claymore/ http://www.onemanga.com/Houshin_Engi/ http://www.onemanga.com/Jisatsu_Circle/ http://www.onemanga.com/Katekyo_Hitman_Reborn/ http://www.onemanga.com/Majin_Tantei_Nougami_Neuro/ http://www.onemanga.com/Perfect_Girl_Evolution/ http://www.onemanga.com/Rosario-Vampire/ http://www.onemanga.com/Sayonara_Zetsubou_Sensei/ http://www.onemanga.com/School_Mermaid/
Eesh, I'm gonna have to get on a faster computer to read all of those They all look appealing though, especially Claymore. I saw that at Borders once and I thought about buying it but then I decided not to.
It's really interesting and the art is gorgeous, but like I said, these are some that I've like, so dunno if you'll like 'em. Do check them out at least, promise it'll be worth it.
Oh, I will count on that. Just let me get a faster computer to read them^^ I also want to try buying more manga and finish my Negima, Shaman King, Love Hina, and Getbackers series and start on the Vampire Hunter D novels since I've only seen the movies.
Oh, for novels you can go to http://www.baka-tsuki.net/project/index.php?title=Main_Page It's mostly light novels but they have some interesting titles, most of them have been turned into successful anime series. Too bad that the Boogiepop series is already licensed.
That show is genius. Worthy of being called the Daughter of Lain. But it involves a lot of psychological themes and it's a bit hard to understand if you haven't read the first novel or the first manga.
I was actually afraid to watch Blue Gender because I thought it was creepy but I sucked it up and watched it. I heard Perfect Blue was pretty freaky
Perfect Blue from Satoshi Kon? Because the live action version is kinda crappy. I recommend all the movies of Satoshi Kon to everyone, he's really good.
If I can find it that is. I already have a huge list of anime and manga I want to find and watch/read so bad but need the time and money.
