    Do you dive?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Thanshin, Nov 16, 2011.

    Do you scuba dive?

It's a bit of an out of the blue question but, do you [scuba] dive? If not, why not? Have you even thought about [scuba] diving?

[Edit: I'm accustomed to say "diving" for "scuba diving". :)]

I used to scuba dive. Haven't done it since about 1986 or so, but I'd like to try it again.

Some things have change since. Now nobody trusts the recreational divers to manage a deco dive so most non professional diving is done without ever going into deco.

i.e.: by today's standards, what you possibly did is too hard and dangerous for the puny amateur divers.

i'd been 'in' a few, in my drinking days... smoky 'n dark, usually...

never 'took' one, since i don't box professionally...

'did' a couple of nose dives in flight training way back when...

never 'dove' into the water, since i can't swim...

    and never considered scuba-ing...

I've been suba-diving off the island of Rhodes. It was beautiful. Rhodes is one of my favorite places, and Greece is one of my favorite countries.

I don't scuba dive, but I do regular diving. I put on some goggles and hold my breath. The waters around where my grandparents have their cabin are very beautiful, but it's shallow so using any kind of equipment is kind of pointless. I'd really like to scuba one day though, maybe in Australia since the reef there is so beautiful, but I'm terrified of all the poisonous stuff down there. Worst thing to think about in Norway is jellyfish (according to Wikipedia, Lion’s Mane Jellyfish, but it says they are huge and the ones in Norway are small and getting stung barely hurts. And then there’s Moon Jellyfish, but those are only fun. A large swarm(?) washed up on shore once when I was little and we had a jellyfish war).
