    Favourite place to write?

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Daydream, May 20, 2011.

Hey so am just interested as to where everyone else does most of their writing?!

Personally I do most of my writing either at home or at university! In summer I love sitting in the park with my friends and plan out my novel to ^^ At some point I would love to take my laptop and sit in a cafe with a coffee the old generic way :p Always wanted to do that!

    So where do you write?

Definitely at home in front of my 37" 1080P LED LCD.

My chair is comfy, the office always has nice ventilation, and it's very peaceful. I'm not a big fan of writing at school but do it constantly when I need to. Too much noise, too many students rambling on, concentration is easily broken.

I've done the writing-in-cafe, but not on the laptop.

I write up in my converted loft slash bedroom mostly these days.

I do my writing in my room most of the time. I don't really like to write in a crowded area due to the noise factor.

Sitting at my desk in our living room is my usual practice (although I don't have a 37" monitor - yikes!!). And if my wife is watching television, I have really fine Bose headphones and a wide variety of classical music or soft jazz to drown out unwanted sound. More often, though, I do my writing at times when no one else is around - on breaks during the day if I'm working from home, or later at night.

On the bank near our lakeside cabin. I love taking my eyes off the laptop every now and then to gaze out over the water. It really liberates the mind.

Nah just kidding. In my room while in bed. Much more comfortable.

Usually in my dining room in front of the computer if it's typing. If it's writing, then I like going outside or someplace comfortable and familiar, like my room or outside or a room with a great view.

at my kitchen table. I know what you mean about the writing in cafes looks nice but I could never concentrate in a noisy place like that, plus I hate the idea of people that are passing by being able to see what it is Im writing looking over my shoulder. It completely blocks me.

The reclining armchair in my parents lounge.

When I was in my own place I couldn't concentrate at all. When I'm in their house I can relax, tune-out from the real world and just focus on writing.

anywhere and everywhere... but mostly at my desk on my laptop, or on my sofa on lined pastel notepads, with a fat, blue ink ballpoint...

Typically at the library which is luckily only a few blocks away from my apartment so I get to save on gas! If I can't write there I find any old quiet spot like a park or my dinning room table.

At the moment, my most favorite place to write would be in my own bedroom, because it possess's an area of familiarity that makes writing so much less bothersome, because I don't have to worry about other fools interupting me in any way, shape or form.

On my front porch where I can look at the lake and there's always a breeze :D If the weather's not nice enough though I sit at my dining room table (especially in winter cause my woodstove's in there and I can watch the fire) or in bed if I'm sick or lazy, lol. But usually the first two.
