    Fizzedine here. Howdy :-)

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Fizzedine, Jun 3, 2014.

    Hey guys

I am an amateur writer for 12 years. To be honest I didn't take it seriously but now I believe I can make a go of it :)
I mainly writer thriller type stuff, short stories mainly and poetry.
My dream would be to write horror/psych thrillers or epic fantasy.

I guess to make this more interesting I will turn this into a discussion.
Is there a point in writing fantasy? Whats left within this field to be original?
I worry my work will end up being a "lord of the rings" and "song of ice and fire" hybrid lol.
So whats people opinion on this? :)

    Nice to meet you all

Hi, Fizzedine, and welcome to the forum! Please read the New Member Quick Start Guide, participate, and have fun.

Apologies for not welcoming you earlier - it's been a bit busy around here, I guess.

Anyway, this is a great place for writers, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

In answer to your question, of course there's a point in writing epic fantasy. There's nothing wrong with the genre, only with what copycat writers do with it. :) If you can bring something fresh to it, and if you can write well, you'll find a big market.
