So we have Trump and Clinton as the main party nominees, so the electorate as a collective are looking rather like a bunch of morons already. Now, at the RNC, we have a night filled with jingoism and hateful rhetoric, and the next morning the narrative has been largely about Melania's speech. That's how easily distracted we are, and how much we fixate on personality rather than substance. We're low information voters, and we like it that way. That's why we have Clinton and Trump (whose primary supporters are one another's intellectual equals; sides of the same coin).
