    Game dev

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by GlPortal, Feb 24, 2014.

    Hello,

I am a game developer and looking for improving my writing skills for
the story of my free science fiction game GlPortal.

I am also looking for other writers that want to join my efforts.

Btw. I am not a native speaker of the english language, but I plan to improve my
skill to the point where my spoken and written english is not distinguishable
    from a native speaker.

    Sincerely
    Henry

P.S: Feel free to contact me about the game if you are interested in contributing.

    Welcome!

I'm sure you will find plenty of tips here that can help you.
Good to see a game dev taking the plot and story of their game seriously :)

As a developer myself, I'm always interested in the technical bits. What are you using to build your game? You're using an engine like Unity? Or hard core coding in C, Java,...?

    Hello Passero,

in fact I have already found a great tip. The article about S.C.O.P.E is amazing.

I took the game over from Simon Larsen about a year ago.
It is written in C++ with opengl and the legacy libraries glut and glew. It is
pending a port to SDL but this will only be possible once all window functionality
and events are decoupled from the main and game class.
The build-system is cmake and make and I am compiling with the gnu c++ compiler.

Please note that all videos and screenshots are now legacy since I released version 0.0.4 yesterday.

I am going to outline the story and characters soon I am sure there is much that the community here
will have to add to my ideas. Thank you all in advance.

    Regards
    Henry

I know I am new here but I have some experience with games aka beta testing etc and would be more than happy to help if I can.
