    Gerunds

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by dillseed, May 16, 2014.

Without rewording these sentences, do they look correct?

My (not 'Me') winning the lottery allowed me to make significant contributions to various charities.

John's (not 'John') leaving the company surprised everybody.

She was annoyed with his (not 'him') smoking in front of the building.

    Thank you.

yes, in re the bolded words...

but 'with' in the third sentence has to be 'by' to make sense grammatically... 'with' would have to be followed by 'him for' to make sense and be grammatical...
