Getting published in the US as a foreigner

Discussion in 'Publishing' started by Eddyz Aquila, Aug 14, 2009.

I know that most of the literary agents in the US have their own contacts in different European countries, but I was wondering if it would be viable to send your manuscript directly to a US agent even if you're a foreigner.

    Any thoughts?

Lots of American agents represent Canadians and British. If your English is good enough, I don't see why it would be a problem.

As long as the writing is up to muster, why would a publisher care where you are from?

I correspond with one author who lives in Australia, found an agent in the U.S. and has her first novel coming out with St. Martin's Press in October of this year.

    So yes it is possible.
