Che Guevara's and Mao's books are excellent sources, particularly because they were successful . Most insurgencies weren't. What was very interesting was the effort he put into logistics. In the beginning, he planned each attack to recover more ammunition than he expected to expend, even gathering up his and the enemy's spent brass to reload. He would not issue new people more than a single shot rifle so as to not waste ammo, and the penalty for wasting ammo was to spend 30 days or so at base camp, reloading the brass to learn its value. Working on a non-fiction on warfare in general and he is a major resource, though far removed from my ideology.
