    Question About Signitures

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by lordofhats, Dec 3, 2007.

Seeing how I've been on this site alot lately, I've been setting myself up for a long stay (ie finally getting an avatar and getting more involved with daily conversation).

While I was reading over the forum rules (Probably should have read them when I first came by ) I noticed it says the following about signitures:

"Images are not allowed unless permitted by the usergroup."

May I inquire as to why? Its not a big deal for me or anything I'm just curious because on other forums I usually include a self made sig image for myself in place of quotes.

The only reason I can think of is that the more images you haveto display within a page the longer it takes for the page to load...seriously some people have a hard time with that once images are placed in the signatures.

Also this is a writing forum, not a image gallery. I think that having signatures with images in for every single member will make the site look messy and I really don't see any great need for them.

Hmm. Makes sense to me. Thank you. I was just curious as to why the rule existed.

Torana's right. It takes longer to load (especially for those on dial-up), but moreover I think it makes the site look cluttered.

I can understand that since this is a writing site it would be illogical to have signatures that are graphic based...but the graphic artist in me just wants to cry! LOL I can also understand not wanting the site to be cluttered and to have it as hassle free as possible for the Dial-Up members...again my graphic artist just died a little.

I never even realized I don't have a graphic signature until I read this thread. Goes to show I don't really NEED one.

You did make some really stunning Grapthic Signatures On the other forums you should start another workshop Frosty. I remember that Raven one you did for me ages ago.

Well thank you Hulls, I really appriciate that. I might just do that...but I don't really see the point if you can't use graphic signature's on this website...but I guess if it's alright with Lpspider I could make graphics for people and their other forums?

    Thanks again.

I'll ask LpSpider if I can and then maybe you'll see one popping up in the next week or so. But again I have to ask permission first!

Fair enough, but I don't see it being a problem.

I don't either, and Hulls has already suggested me doing it, but I still like to run these kind of things past the Big Honchoes, as well without them it wont happen lol.

Your good to go. Start with the avatars then move onto sigs.

By the way could you do me a Raven Avatar something like this. Meh you know me I'm a picky bugger but if I'm gonna have a new avatar I only want one done by the best.

Use the lounge for your workshop. and depending on how popular I'll sticky it personally myself. ;)

I love making signatures, too, I'm constantly renewing mine on DOL. I've managed to cope here, though :p

I've made a few animated avatars, but you can't have them here :p

I got a nice one with Master Chief and the Matrix numbers. It looks really nice. Right now I'm searching for material to make a V for Vendetta and a Assassin's Creed sig.
