    TV and books

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Paki-Writing, Oct 22, 2010.

I was wondering what people's TV to books ratio was. Do you guys read more or watch more?

Generally I read more. However, the TV is on in the living room all day on a 24 hour news channel and I can hear it from my office, so if you count that, I absorb more TV even though I'm not paying much attention to it.

Before a couple months ago, well before my TV broke, I didn't read much and mostly watched TV. But recently I have been reading about 2-3 hours before bed.

But I still find myself watching TV shows on my computer so... Welll I guess my TV viewing is much much higher then my reading. But I am reading alot more then I used to so thats good. :D

Hmm, I think it's more reading books than TV if I compare the time spent doing both.

I own one TV and about 500 books. Is that what you're asking?;)

I multitask, so it's even harder for me to estimate. I very often read while I watch TV, and pop onto the computer to look up some thought inspired by one or the other.

Reading, by a fairly large margin, since I don't watch much TV. I like to watch some old movies on TCM, or I'll watch sports now and again. Family Guy if I think to watch it. But were it not for my daughter, I don't think I'd even subscribe to cable TV, that's how rarely I actually watch.

On the other hand, I read every day, for varying lengths of time.

Many days go by where I don't turn on my TV at all. Others-- rarely-- go by where I veg out on the couch and do nothing but watch TV. But I read every day-- usually about 1-2 hours before before I go to bed.

Ultimately, I'd say I'm about 2-1 reading over watching.

Definitely TV. Well not so much actually what's on the TV, as I rarely watch that, and if I do it's just because someone has it switched on in the living room as background. I watch lots of TV series on DVD though.

Hee, hee. Easy question. I watch way more TV than taking the time to read books. I'm not a couch potato though. I do have a job.

Lately, reading. I watch series on the computer, but it is not more than 5, 6 hours a week, while I've been reading for about 5, 6 hours a day.

Probably fairly equal... Maybe some more TV time, but I'm almost always watching it when I eat and read mostly before bed as it helps me sleeps.

Also, I should point out that my idea of watching TV is mostly Netflix and DVDs. I hardly tune into cable. And probably won't at all anymore now that the recent update to the XBox involved free access to ESPN to watch sports. They even have the EPL and the Bundesliga! I thought that was cool.
