How hard could it get? Addicted?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Torana, Jan 11, 2008.

Ok so I have sleep problems, big time sleep problems. I rarely sleep actually.

So I've decided to go caffiene free. Which means no more wonderfully delicious taste of coffee first thing in the morning. No more sweet aroma filling the air, no more coffee full stop.

It is hard as just posting this I am seriuosly craving coffee like you wouldn't believe....but water is a healthier choice and it is what I am drinking damn it!!

I miss coffee and have been coffee free for 2 days now....

So what are some addictions the rest of you have, trying to give up, or have given up over the last few years?

Chocolate is my downfall. Very rarely eat lollies or chips, but I have chocolate almost every day. I don't have a very addictive personality fortunately, but I love my chocolate, particularly for dessert.

I also love coffee, but only have it once or twice a week max.

    My addiction is salt.
I cannot eat a meal without the shaker right at my hand.
I have tried other spices and flavourings but I need the salt.
I know it is bad but if I don't have it my body retaliates.
Torana I think you are wonderful that you are trying this.
    Dare I mention decaf.

I also use salt a lot. Fortunately I don't have a tendency to hypertension, so salt isn't particularly bad for me.

I also like hot sauce. I always have several varieties in the refrigerator.

I stopped having salt on my foods when I became pregnant with Mason. I hate salt except on chips and that like. But really hate salt.

And thank you lessa and I should try decaf. But then I will still want to go back ot real coffee.......will give it a go though. THanks.

Despite the hype, salt is not bad for everyone. It depends on the quantity, and whether the person has elevated blood pressure.

lessa, what about sea salt? You get more flavor with a smaller quantity

that is true but food tastes better without it as well. I prefer the natural food flavours rather than everything else

Small amounts of salt actually intensify the natural flavors of the food.

For example, a small quantity of salt on a slice cantaloupe will make it taste even sweeter.
