    Hello all!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by wildbluefaerie, Jun 13, 2007.

Hello, all! I have been writing short stories and novellas since I was in the 6th grade... I really love to write and I would really love to become a published writer, but I haven't, as yet, finished a manuscript to the point where I can send it to a publisher yet. My current goal is to do that before the end of the summer (ahh!). Needless to say that will take quite a bit work, and I can't do it on my own... ;) I've come here for some good solid critiquing and advice, and to hopefully give some of my own critiquing and advice to other writers.

Good luck but it sounds like you're on the right road anyway. There are dedicated reviewers, those whose user names appear in green and they could be a good place to start for a decent review, though the best way to get reviews is to crit yourself on some similar pieces and ask for the favour to be returned!

Hope your time here is beneficial!

Welcome to the writing forums, wildbluefaerie.

I hope you can attain your goal. It sounds like you have a solid plan in place, so I hope it doesn't sound strange when I recommend taking your time posting your work for review.

It helps to get to know people here a bit before exposing your work to review, and also to read other reviews so you have an idea what to expect. Members writing reviews tend to focus on suggestions for improvement, which can be a little disconcerting if you aren't ready for it.

Also, people are generally more inclined to expend the effort to review work if they know you and have seen you review material as well. It signals a commitment to quality writing, so the reviewer knows that the review won't be ignored if it doesn't gush adoringly.

From your intro, you seem to be very focused. I look forward to seeing you and your work here.

    Most importantly, have fun!
