    Hi everyone!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Quabajazzi, Jul 10, 2012.

I'm Quabajazzi and I'm a junior writer who is still in school. I joined because my major project is actually writing a book or at least a bit of one and breaking down every aspect. I write frequently and have a little notepad where I might see or hear something that sparks something so I'll jot it down. I'm probably not a normal writer. If I'm sitting in the car while my parents or friends are checking out a garage sale and I see a boofy, bearded man I might suddenly think of a name that suits him, a description that I like and include him into an already totally wound plot that I don't know at all, but is relevant for that moment I'm watching him and giggling. I do it I think because I get bored really quickly if what I'm doing or who I'm with is doing something I'm not good at or interested in, but it works. I want to improve my writing and how I think about what I'm writing and why and I think this forum will be a lot of fun! :)

Mostly historical fantasy if that makes even exists, Haha! I am a huge fan of history but I like to make it a bit more exciting by adding some fantasy aspects to it! What about you?

So intertwining history with fantasy? That sounds really interesting! How long have you been writing like that?

Probably since I could learn to write! Haha! I grew up in a pretty suppressed nation, I am from Lithuania and was born into the Soviet Union. So as a child I use to write to escape the everyday antics of the time. Luckily I was born into the very end of it but the scars still remain in the nation. But my escape was to write and I had always been fascinated with history and especially fantasy as much of that was banned from entering the country so that is what spiked my interest :)

Woah. I write to escape things, but mostly because as much as I love my family, most of them plain aren't on the same brain wave. It's amusing at times, but some times its annoying and a bit embarrassing.

Oh I know how you feel when it comes to that too! I have two older sisters and sometimes I wonder if I was adopted! Writing for me is very relaxing and fun. So what type of genre do you typically write?

I fall back on fantasy and fiction. I've tried other genres as exercise, but I get frustrated when I have this enormous spiralling, winding, passing plot that is raging to be written, but I'm just too young and inexperienced to accurately unravel it and make it believably huge. Well the sort of huge I want it it be.

    Welcome to Writing Forums, Quabajazzi!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.
