    Hey, whats up?

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by The_Blank_Face, Dec 9, 2012.

Hey, what's up? My names Rob, I'm 19, and I used to write all the time. I've written many short stories, generally of the Fantasy genre... and one very twisted horror short about a serial killer that likes to skin his victims. But I've found as of lately I can't write anything. The words just don't come to me like they used to. I get these ideas that I think are great and I can't get anything on paper. So, I guess I'm just looking for inspiration from this forum. I'm glad to be here, and I look forward to reading some really great stuff :).

Hey Rob. My name is Mike. I'm 26 and i feel the same way you do. Oddly enough, this was the first post i read after finishing my signup and was immediately comforted to read almost exactly what i was about to write. I used to write everyday. In high school, i was the president of the writing club and took great pride in both the quality of my work and just in being a writer. It became part of my identity. But then high school ended and i had no desire to go to college even though i loved writing. For the first couple years i was still churning stuff out pretty frequently. Poems here and there and some solid fan fiction as well as some fantasy short stories. And then it slowed even further until one day a couple years ago, i realized i hadn't written anything in almost a year. So since then i have been working on and off trying to find that spark. To bring all these amazing ideas i have to life. Bottom line. It has been painful and agonizing and a little disheartening. I'm still not there, but lately i have been making real progress and tonight i discovered this website and I am really excited at the prospect of getting to just interact with some fellow writers. I hope this website is helpful and inspirational for both of us. And I also hope i haven't rambled on for way to long.

Hello there, I'm new to this forum too and I am very happy there are more of us new-registered every day :)
I am also looking for inspiration and some inner drive that will urge me to write. As far as my ovesrvations go,
perseverance is the key ability to seeing some major results in one's work (sometimes at least some results), relentlesness,
    and so on.
Good luck, guys. I'm looking forward to what we'll come up with.

    Welcome to Writing Forums, Rob!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirements. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.
