    Hello ladies and gentlemen!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by xAudienceofone, Jan 6, 2012.

    Hello guys and gals,
I suppose I may as well introduce myself. You may call me whatever you like, but I'll just call myself Audience for now. Well that's me, Audience, one who loves all forms of art and practices as many as I can. Watercolors, inks, pens and pencils, acrylics and of course writing are all just a few of my mediums. I suppose I began writing around 6th or 7th grade. I quit for a while, frustrated with myself. Then in 11th and 12th grade (somewhat recent, as I just graduated high school 1/2 a year ago as of this writing) I have a sudden interest again. Still, I feel failed as a writer for the most part- perhaps this is due to not really ever having substantial feedback. ever. I tried using my other for a source once for feedback but she only says how wonderful everything is. Useless. Encouraging, but useless information. I have always had a difficult time asking for help when it comes to writing and I don't have many friends who write at that. I came here searching for a place where some of my work might be picked apart and torn up with constructive criticism that I so need. As for my part I will attempt to do what I can to help you all out in return.

I have attempted many novels and have 2 being worked on now. One slowly with a friend who writes, and the other is my own result of boredom. My most recent endeavors have been a series of short stories based off songs. I am eager to share them with you, as they not only are the first few things I really like, but are in 1st person- a new tactic for me.

Finally, I ask, is there anything about the site I should know? I read the rules (Yes, I actually read them. Shocking, I know.) already so no need for that.

    Thank you for your time.

welcome to the forums and rest assured you'll get the feedback you need here. I remember smugly submitting my first piece and then discovering it was mediocre at best. I feel I've come a way since then and it's thanks to this site. Seeing as you've read the rules I don't think there's anything particularly you need to know. Feel free to message me if you need any personal help, I usually have this site on in the background at least. If you've recently left high school then we're of similar ages and I think it's good to get feedback from people your own age.

Welcome. You sound like an interesting person. I love watercolour and pencil drawing too.

I'm also here looking for honest feedback. It seems like a good place to get good constructive criticism. I look forward to reading your work :)

    Welcome to Writing Forums, xAudienceofone!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

    Thanks everyone.
Protar, Thank you for the interest and I agree with what you said about getting feedback from people your own age- of course it is good to collect it from all kinds of people as well I think. However if for instance my demographic was for ages 16-25 (hypothetical) our age would be in that (in theory) and our opinions would be values quite a bit I think.

Pinky, Thaknks for the want to see my work. I'll keep an eye out to see what you bring to the forums as well. ;)

Thanks Bonzai, I have already checked out those pages, but seeing this will remind me I suppose. I am especially interested in the short stories that are here, I recently got into writing some myself and I am eager to get some tips from the people here by either reading their literature or getting previews. Both are great ways to learn.

Thanks again everyone for the welcome! :)
