Greetings

Hello,

After recently deciding to try writing fiction more seriously, I have decided to join this seemingly friendly and useful forum. Most of my writing to date has been academic, and it is certainly a big challenge to move into fiction. More specifically, I find it difficult moving from 'academic narrative' to 'story narrative' mode where the progression of plot and character are more important than presenting an argument.

My main interests are ancient history, politics, and literature. I would probably describe my current writing as somewhere between historical fiction, fantasy and general fiction.

I hope to learn from others in the forum and provide help where I can.

Help on describing clothing, not help on researching it.

Thanks all. The area of history I'm most familiar with is Mesopotamia and the Arabian Peninsula. Happy to help if anybody is interested in this area.
