Pleasure to meet you all. What type of writing do I do? Well, its odd, I write scenes from my mind that have no connections to each other, for instance: A epic battle between a Demon Warlord. and the next day It will be about A giant Spaceship War for the fate of a planet. I have a seemingly endless pool of imagination I can dive into, but no matter how hard I try I can't put all my ideas together to make a good novel or short story.*rambles* I love sci-fi and a good fantasy book! Hello Fallen Feather, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own writing for comment should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Hallelujah. I've always been interested in web design but the confines of my intellect won't let em stray into that dimension =/ but I am impressed. You and I seem to have the same problem, alot of great (and random) ideas, but lacking the discipline to do much about it. Also, If you want a good sci-fi fantasy, check out the Dresden ZFiles series by Jim Butcher. It'll knock yer socks off ;p
A good fantasy to me: Keeps my interested throughout the whole book,epically defined and well thought out designed battles.Touch of Mystery, and wonder (What if that guy is the spy?).Has humor and jokes throughout that make me feel like laughing my head off(That fit the story and aren't just tossed in).Doesn't have the "And they all live happily ever after" ending.(In real life not everyone lives happily ever after).Every Main character and/or Villain(That have purpose for doing what their doing making them think their the good guy) has their own goals they wish to accomplish thus causing conflict with the main characters quest/morals/beliefs.Lastly includes the following: Dragons All time fave hands down, dream to write like!: "Adventures of Vlad Taltos" - Steven Brust, I LOVE this series.
I haven't read anything by Steven Brust yet, but after checking the wiki page, I think I'll have to. My all-time favourite would have to be the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. I talk about it far too much.:redface:
