This is the 5th door he's knocked on...

Create a story in 500 words or less.
This doesn't have to be the first sentence,
rather it should inspire your story.

    Example:

Alex never wanted to leave the house that cold winter day in November. But his sister, Sophie had forgotten her homework at home and he owed her a favor. He never had much interest in her studies, she studied acting, or singing, or something of that nature.

His studies ended senior year of high school. Watching his older sister passionately reach for her goals always made him somewhat weary of ambition much to the chagrin of his parents.

He enjoyed taking it easy and “watching the world go by”. What was so wrong with that, he thought.

By the time he reached Sophie’s school building he was already miserable, he didn’t want to bother when he could be at home playing a game on his Playstation or eating a pizza. What was worse is he knew what floor she was on but not the room number.

After riding six floors up on the elevator, he looked around and saw three hallways leading to a series of doors. It was cold and corporate looking, hardly what he expected of an artistic program like entertainment. The first door had an acting group reenacting a Shakespeare play. He jumped when they all turned to look at him. Closing the door nervously, he shook it off and continued to the next door. He wished the doors were like the ones in high school with little glass windows so that he could just peak inside each one. But instead they were heavy grey doors to keep in the sound and air conditioning.

The next few doors had similar outcomes. One had a group of singers practicing to the music of Rogers and Hammerstein, another a mime group. The 5th door he knocked on was dark and uninhabited, he thought, till he heard a clicking noise. The noise bothered him, it reminded him of the time and he wanted to return to his search but something at the back of his head nagged him to search for the clicking.

He entered the room and looked around, the light from the hallway streamed in and illuminated a grand piano in front of several empty seats. Instrument cases were bundled up in the corners of the room. Following the sound he looked behind the piano under the bench and found a metronome. Tilted on its side, clicking, it looked wrong to him. Picking it up, he placed it gently on the piano and stopped it.

Suddenly the door to the room slammed shut.

“Hey!” He shouted but no one answered. He tried running to the door but unable to see in the dark he managed to fall over three chairs. Badly bruising himself before reaching the door. Pounding on the door, he called out again, “Hey let me out, this isn’t funny.” Pounding on the door again his breathing becoming more rapid.

Fear began to creep into his mind but before he could make sense of any of it his sister opened the door. “Got ya’” She laughed.
