    Hi Guys..

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by kev1n3, Feb 10, 2007.

    Hi Guys.

Thanks for allowing me to join.
Had a quick look over the posts and seems a very interesting place to get started. However, I am seriously dyslexic and have tried many times to put pen to paper. Even this short introductory has been flushed through spell checker a 100 times. Only you guys would know is there any software for Dyslexic writers? Might sound a stupid question but I thought it worth asking. Any advise would be greatly recieved.

I would really like to be able to write my Autobiography. I’ve done some extraordinary things over my 50 years on this earth and would llove to share my experiences along with recording an important part of several hundred individuals history.

I’m looking forward to reading thought the various post over the next few days or so.

    Thanks again.

    Kev

Hi Kev, welcome to the site.

It's not a stupid question to ask for help.

A good friend of mine is dyslexic and even though he tries to downplay it, I know it gives him the most incredible sense of failure within himself.

It's a shame as he astounds me at times with how incredibly intelligent he can be...if he allows himself.

I think this is the reason why he prefers to work with images (drawing and painting).

I've scoped around a bit and have found these links for software etc:

    TextAloud

    DAL

    D.com

    Academic Support

They are just some although I don't know how useful they will be to you, but you can always find some good things around the net either on a google or yahoo search.

    Have fun.

We're not discriminatory, dyslexia may add an extra dimension to your writing, heightened creativity or imagination?! Welcome.

    Kev,

I don’t know if there is any software to help a person with dyslexia…but if it makes you feel any better, I don’t have dyslexia and I still have to use spell-check about a hundred times. Even then I still miss a few things. But welcome to the site, and I really look forward to reading your work.
