    For the creative minds

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Moni Jay, Apr 14, 2011.

Excuse the following in bad grammar, my author name is Moni, Moni Jay in full.
I have been working on my first legitimate novel for nearly two years now, and have been perfecting each segment of the story little-by-little over time.
The fable genre - Politics, mythology, fantasy, action, supernatural in the vampiric and lycanthropic detail, and more so dominant in the sci-fi and imaginative, all very logical and story based of course. But most of all - An original idea of all combined genres, packed neatly and written to perfection (in my own opinion) all in one 400 page anecdote (story).

    Hey!!

:D Hey, thanks for replying. I'm quite new here so I didn't expect to have any replies.
I can post a sample of my work If you'd like.
I dislike characters that have no personality or some form of cultural aspect.
All my characters have unique characteristics. Either way, humans are BORING.
Much attention is focused upon the supernatural or ethereal plot-lines. Thus, Harry Potter (Wizards, Witches, Trolls, Colossal snakes), even Dan Brown's The Davinci Code (Albinos, Mythology, symbolism, Historical events) All include some form of preternatural story base.
    It's just a suggestion. :p

You're very welcome. I'm sort of new here so I know your feeling of not replying. I've been around for about four or five days I believe, but don't worry too much, people here are very friendly and i'm sure you'll make quite a few friends. :) If you ever need anyone to talk to you could mesage me. I don't bite haha.

Val Halor - simply defying Rem's character

    Rem -

'Every night, I have these weird dreams of flying.
And these strange people that I see, with fierce eyes and pale skin,
luring me towards them, calling me into the darkness.
The kindred. The dark rulers of the night.
And the wolves. The sound of their howling symphonies tore through the silence of the evening sky.
    I was in their world.
They were all around me, calling me still.
And that young man I keep seeing. With short black hair and fair skin.
And his eyes; filled with cerulean blue, like sapphires.
Was he calling for me...or was he calling for her?

    My dark passenger...'

Simply identifying Rem's character. Disturbed, unsettled by her unexplained dreams, locked in wonder as to why? Also acts as a notifier to the reader about the World of Darkness that she is surrounded with.

If you would like me to post more about the story itself, i have a brief synopsis of the entire story.

Hello Moni, Welcome to the Creative Writing Forums.

Please read How to Use the Writing Workshop before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Writing Workshop, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Writing Workshop, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. We also impose a two-week waiting period before you may post writing for critique, to give you time to become familiar with what is expected and how the site operates. The Writing Workshop forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Writing Workshop forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

Welcome! I'm very new aswell but there's a nice little community going on here, very well moderated as far as I can tell as I haven't come across any bad users/posts (which I usually do in my first week).

It's pretty awesome that you've been writing your own novel and you seem very confident in your own work. If you ever get round to posting some excerpts up for critique I look forward to reading!

    Hi Moni,

I'm probably the newest noob here, but I saw your thread and found I might as well butt in too :)
Your story sounds intriguing - I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about soon...

    Cheers,

    Karin
