    Hi to all ;-)

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by boogiemaster, Sep 1, 2007.

    Hi

My name is Darren and I’ve always loved stories and music. I would love to write some stories and have people like them.

I will review some stories although I’m not really qualified and will try to do my best. My English isn’t really brilliant and I hope that doesn’t get in the way too much?

I have a verity of interests in different subjects of books and I’m not stuck to one type! I love horror to science fiction.

Look forward to speaking with you all and good luck with all your future publications

    Darren

Hello Darren, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

The qualification for reviewing is a desire to improve writing. And by helping someone else see where a turn of the phrase may work better, you also help yourself when you proofread your own work for revision. Have at it - the worst that can happen is that someone may disagree, and from that both can learn from the exploration.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room on this site, therefore, is a true workshop, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
