Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and give a little back ground. I am currently planning for a short story for my English GCSE in a couple of weeks and I am struggling quite a bit. I have 3 different ideas but it's just getting things down into words that make sense so I guess I am just hoping to get some different ideas from this website. I already have a grade D in my English but I wanted to achieve a higher mark so finally after 11 years I have gone back to do them again. Anyway enough of me rambling, I hope I get some good ideas from you all. Thank You all for reading this. Sarah
Well, if you have time before your due date, roam around the forums a little and see what issues people are bringing up re: plotting, characterization, setting, etc. Check out the short stories posted for critique in the Workshop, and see what strikes you as working, or not. Think about how all this speaks to the story you need/want to write. It may help you decide which of your three ideas is the one you want to pursue. Then once you've got your feet wet with your GCSE story, write up the other ideas as well. Welcome!
