Hillary Clinton Bores Pants Off Nation with Generic Rally Speech

Discussion in 'Debate Room' started by Steerpike, Jun 14, 2015.

Did anyone else catch Clinton's rally speech?

Most of it sounded like it could have been written for any generic Democrat. Not entirely unusual - the only candidates who are likely to tell you what they really think are Sanders, Paul, and maybe Cruz (by which Cruz just continues to show how far out there he is).

But not only was Clinton's speech generic and uninspiring, she didn't sound like she was passionate about a word of it. Very dry, like reading from a list of approved things to say to be President.

On my own subjective scale of political speech rating, I rate it LAME.

I liked it. I thought it was woman-centric. Yes, there was a lot of "I will propose" stuff in there, par for the course. It wasn't Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren, of course but there was a bit of Sanders/Warren light in it.

In a way, much as I'd like a straight Progressive agenda, just like the Republicans win their primaries but then can't win the election, I don't want that to happen.

The Clintons are already rich. They are already powerful. I see no reason they need to serve the billionaires if Hillary gets elected. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised to find Clinton wants a legacy, not just more power and money.

To me, it sounded like a prepared speech delivered in a rote manner. I think she'll say anything to get elected and can't believe she is serious about what she says. Even the bits where presumably, as a human, she must have felt some emotion came across as flat. Give me sometime who believes what they say, not someone who is just checking off boxes. I really wish Warren was in the race.

Oh God, yes. Someone (maybe here) suggested a Warren/Al Franken ticket. I could beat them with any two Bushes. #scottwalker

They'll all say anything to get elected, @Steerpike. You have to go by their record.
