A quick Grammar question.

I wanted to reassure her that everything would be okay.
I wanted to reassure her that everything would be ok.

So as I get through my last edit I want to double check a few things. This time it's choosing between 'ok' and 'okay'.

Does anyone have a definitive answer? Personally I think either is alright, but I am a novice.

I usually use OK (caps), but I think 'okay' is good, too.

 

@Bookster Do you have to use caps when using 'ok'? (So with this I can either use OK or okay?)

I looked it up at Grammer Girl (a great resource, btw). She says that it is a style choice, but that the Chicago Manual of Style (often used by fiction writers) reccomends "okay" while the AP style book for newspapers reccomends "OK." Me personally? I would go with okay--okay?

 

It's important to note that most publishers use the Chicago Manual of Style, so I say go with what they recommend. Personally, I agree with the CMoS and prefer "okay" as well.
