The Clash are alright. Don't listen to it much beyond that. I wrote several papers dealing with the history of music for English class last semester, and in the course of my research, I found that punk was partly responsible for killing the progressive rock movement. Progressive rock is one of my favorite kinds of music. :\

That's up to debate, because we still have progressive death metal bands and the likes these days. Anyways, The Clash is allright I guess. They were punk at first, but I really wouldn't classify them as "punk rock". Bands like The Germs, Black Flag, Fear, Agression, DI, Bad Brains, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion... (the list goes on and on) are true bonafide punk rock bands.

Hmm, I see progressive rock as bands like Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Rush, Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis etc. Progressive metal is of no interest to me, and sounds radically different from those groups. It's a sub-genre of metal. The bands I mentioned evolved out of the psychedelic rock movement, which also has its merits.

As for those punk bands, I've only heard the Sex Pistols and I didn't like them so much. I guess punk isn't my thing.

Saying that, I'd swear you were a punk rocker. :D

I'm not really all that into punk to be honest. But recently I've been listening to a bit of punk music a friend likes. I've never really listened to punk so I thought I'd take a look at it anyways.

Punk really isn't my thing, but I don't mind some of it. I prefer heavey metal myself.

When I was younger I used to be somewhat into it. I was friends with a lot of druggies and tattoo artists and ****, so I was surrounded with it. I've grown out of it in recent years; occasionally I'll listen to it but I don't really make a point to throw on some Agnostic Front or anything.. maybe Social D or the Descendents or something though.

Though I still like my fave bands from the 80s Mission Marillion and the Cult. ;)

I'm not into much punk. My musical tastes tend to be more mellow/refined. However, I do enjoy The Misfits sometimes. Danzig Misfits, nothing after him. That guy cracks me up.
