This is almost exactly what I do, but I have a problem with losing focus so I'm trying something new. For the past couple weeks, I've only edited and brainstormed and I've loved it. Who knew? I'm coming up on the end of my progress and considering laying down a bare-bones sketch of the remaining scenes to eventually fill in. I'm not sure how well it'll work, but thanks to the rough editing I've already done, I've been able to make the plot much tighter than it would be normally at this early point in the drafting process. The mental fog that typically rolls in at the 40-50% mark is feeling thinner than usual, and I don't think I'd be completely mortified if someone found my manuscript and started reading it today. Which, for me, is a totally foreign concept. Usually, I relate to that quote about rough drafts being so shitty, for so long.
