    how obvious is this?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by krobe74037, Dec 15, 2015.

In my story i have a place called "Batch Island" on it is a place called "Sandleford institute for the criminally insane" and the wardens name is Hazel Phifer.

    does anyone see the references?

Are you meaning to convey that the warden is a 'bitch' ? If it's for comedy it'd have a place, I'd be pulled away though, focusing on the suspected contrivance if not (and have not picked up on your intent). I thought 'Nurse Ratched' btw was a good choice of name in One Flew Over.etc... < I find that more believable, not on any hard evidence, my gut tells me people grow to fit their names.

My first thought when I read this was of Shutter Island - not sure if that's where your inspiration lies?

Hazel was merely insane, not criminally so.

    I was thinking Alcatraz.
