Hello everyone, I thought I'd pop into this rather prolific forum. I did this to say hi. Hi. And to say sup. Sup. So anything you want to know about me, go right ahead and ask. Sometimes ill answer, other times ill glare at my screen hopelessly wondering why i am staring at the screen. I will tell you one thing though. I do not enjoy a good contraction. For example lol makes me cringe and rofl is a slappable offence. I'm not a douche or an old fart, i just don't like them.

As for other things I do like. I like to make satirical, bordering on facetious remarks about most things, so don't be perplexed or offended if I do. Its just my way of saying, "good job."

Main reason for joining this forum though. Must be. Can only be. I write, sometimes even when im in public places, I write. Its fun and very calming. I want to get constructive criticism to improve said writing tendencies. So hopefully this community will be slightly more supportive than the last one I was part of.

Kind, warm, heartfelt, sincere, from the inside of my soul regards.
    Me

(and if anyone actually knows where my name is from, I am willing to congratulate you. You'll probably just Google it though. so whatever.)

Hello, yes you will find out soon enough and when you do you will never put the books down. Oh a hint. So yes my writing style/type. I mailny write short funny stories. Sometime I delve into more serious matters. I am currently in the process of writing a rather enthralling novlet about a man and a gun. I know its been played out in thousands of other books. But I have gone and taken a completely different approach. I make a lot of errors. Pretty much grammar and stylistic. But they are not massive and I am currently reading a book that will most likely help out with that.

So hopefully everyone will enjoy my writings, on all the other forums where I have posted my comical short stories, there have been nothing but good comments. So I am looking for something more realistic. I do have a few articles circulating in magazines, nothing boastworthy just something I like to mention over a glass of red wine with all the social banter going around.

You will never guess my age from the way I write, I challenge you to try. Smiley face...

Hello Gerarld, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
