I noticed that one of the modern day most prominent political ideologies don't exist on the list of political views. "Green" or whatever name you might prefer to call it. It might not be one of the classical nineteenth century political moments, but any description of political orientation today is a bit lacking without that option. I suggest that a green alternative is added to the list.
I think that the politics options could do with an overhaul completely, to be honest. At the moment, they're geared very much towards an American user base, which doesn't reflect the site's geographic divisions. For example, I'm a supporter of the UK Labour party. I would have classed myself as left-wing, a socialist, or anything of that ilk, which isn't represented on the list. Liberal, to me, suggests the Liberal Democrats (which I am not), and to an Australian member would suggest the right wing Liberal party. But only Daniel can change something like that, and as priorities go, I'm afraid it's fairly far down the rankings.
Speaking of which, Daniel seems to be somewhat absent. His public visitor messages are a bit worrying, people paid for stuff and not received it? What's that about?
Getting hold of Daniel has always been a little difficult. Rest assured, we are trying our best to bring these matters to his attention.
re politics: 1. it's nobody's business, so i don't think it should be included... 2. as noted above, there are people here from all over the world, so the choices offered don't make sense, being restricted to the us... 3. if the green party is added, they'd have to add 'tea party' and all the many other fringe parties, which include 'white power' and similar hate groups...
Agreed with Banzai, the political ideologies on this board mostly do with US political divisions and none to other countries. Should get rid of it completely (but I'm all up in support for adding new religions like Deism).
I don't think either the Tea Party or Green party are fringe. Particularly not the Tea Party, given the impact they're having this mid-term election (in both directions). But I don't see a point in having the politics in the profile. On the other hand, you aren't forced to have it, so I guess those who don't want it can ignore it, and those who do want it can choose a designation.
The Tea Party are, however, exclusive to the US. To be honest, I'm more swayed towards maia's position, that it shouldn't be there. Or maybe a box where you can enter in whatever the hell you like.
