I'm at a bit of a sticking point right now, and have been thinking on this a while. I'm referencing a Father and son who are facing off in a tourney, and they come from a long line of people exceptionally well trained to fight, they are a "generic westerner" type family, (think British/American/Australian/Western Europe) who are also part demon, and for me warrior doesn't seem to fit properly given this kinda background. I spoke some with @obsidian_cicatrix on this, (as she's been an absolute gem to me lately with this piece, and has been helping me to try and make this work) and neither of us seemed to have come up with anything. the sentence (with Warrior as place-hold.) goes as follows: “Most of you know that the Ishke’s are a warrior family, as well as the longest serving to Lucifer himself." (if i've put this in the wrong place, please feel free to move it.) it was suggested that I made something up, and put it in an earlier piece of the book, where the MC finds out more on his heritage, however, i wanted to see if anything would fit first before I go nuts with making sh*t up again
Martial, Military, Fighting, Combative, Combat-trained, Gladiator, Warlike, Pugilistic, Mercenary... But I don't actually see why "warrior" wouldn't fit for this cultural background?
to me, a warrior seems honourable, (probably through my notions of what a Samurai warrior is) my characters are far from that at all, being of a demon ilk, with semi-human appearance. thank you for some of your suggestions though BayView
I'm still of the opinion you could simply make up a term. It's just one word. Aldiss's Helliconia Trilogy renamed absolutely everything, and I still managed to remember the new terms and got to the end of it all. You'd just have to make sure the reader got the gist of it. Edit: And you know what my memory is like.
Going off the demon thing: Seraphim (Burning ones), Cherubim (Representation of the word of the divine), Dominion (Lord of other angels) Gong off the warrior thing: Evocati (Soldier who swore an oath to the god of war, in your case Satan)

Its Latin, from the roman legion. An enlisted man who served his term and then VOLUNTEERED for reenlistment was given special status. No labor, double pay, and was sworn into the Evocati. They served their commander, AND Mars, the god of war..

You might look into Rakshasa. From Indian mythology, they were demon warriors who devoured the god that initially created them. They were banished to earth, but retained much of their strength. With their master gone, they served whatever god pleased them, and sometimes even mortal generals. They were violent cannibals, and like most Hindu divine beings came in both male and female variants of equal power.
What about a dueling family, you can create a style based on duels, and call it Duelism, which also encompasses/incorporates a principle(s) of dualism, after all you cannot fight a duel by yourself and as you are having a duel to begin with you are clashing with the other party. This would suit a western style approach.
