I studied writing about a decade ago and wanted to become a novelist but soon discovered it's hard and takes lots of work. But recently I've found myself writing again and this time it looks like it's gonna work out as I'm on track to finish the first draft of my fantasy novel by the end of this year... Or early next year, we'll see. Wish me luck!
Welcome! Welcome to the madhouse! I'm glad you didn't give up. Though, I would say it's best not to aim for that as your career. Just so you know. And I indeed wish you luck! And hope to see you around again.
Good luck. I have my book cover as my desktop photo on my laptop, so everytime I switch it on, it reminds me to stay away from too many distractions... until I've done some work on my book. Very often I do more than I planned because I get involved, and then my reward to myself is to check out forums etc.
Thanks guys. Yeah that's sounds like a good plan brindy, I'll give that a try. At this stage I'm not really aiming for it as a career but it would be nice to get something finished and put out there as an ebook. That's about the extent of my goals for now.
Welcome to the forum! Good to hear you got back to writing. It is a wonderful hobby, at the very least. Here's our New Member Quick Start to get you started. See you around! -Kat
It is a wonderful hobby and frankly much cheaper than all of my others. Thanks for the welcome KaTrian and the new member link. Some useful stuff in there like the sight map. Is it weird that I read the sight rules before joining?
I don't remember who originally said this (I used to know) but: Writers don't want to write; they want to have written. Pretty much sums it up, I think.
Yeah thats pretty true I think. This time it seems different though. I'm actually having fun with it. And all the things I used to have trouble with I'm finding really easy. So I think thats promising. Till of course I stumble at the next roadblock.
Well, make sure you speak up if that happens. We're all in this together. I heard that in a movie once.
