I want to be published (just like any other writer )

Discussion in 'Traditional Publishing' started by Becca H, Jan 14, 2012.

I want to be published in a magazine for a short story that i wrote.... It is written for ages 9-12 ish. i have already contacted highlights and asked them they said that it had to be 100 words or less. mine is more like 3000 words, I plan for it to be published in parts. i have also contacted cricket magazine. do you know anyone else that might be interested in a 3000 or so mystery story? thanks!

Check duotrope.com. It has a list of all sorts of markets, including those for children and young teens.

that may be too long for a kid's mag... you may have to cut it down in order to get a taker... and yes, duotrope is your best bet for finding suitable venues... also check your nearest large magazine vendor's racks...
